Usually seeing bands live gives me this great joy. There's something about the crowd, the noise and the lights that just gets my blood pumping.
Seeing FUN at RIT last night was different. Most of the time you go see a band because you know you love them! A few months ago on Pandora I heard "We are Young" and knew I heard this amazing voice before. Its way too unique to not be The Format!! I asked a friend and sure enough it was Nate Ruess! I never ventured into listening more to the band, I was too into listening to Florence and the Machine, Matchbox Twenty and Mumford and Sons.
So when I found out I had tickets to see FUN last night I had mixed feelings. I only knew the two songs that were played on the radio. This made me a little worried. Here I am going to see this up and coming band with hundreds of other "young adults", who were mostly college students like myself.
The line was long and cold to even get in, being that it was sold out and the largest show they have played so far. The opening band Miniature Tigers, was... lets say different, and had me even more worried about seeing FUN. But as soon as FUN got on and I saw Nate Ruess in his suspenders I knew it was going to be a good show.
I haven't been to a show since I saw Mumford and Sons at CMAC (don't let me get started on how amazing that was). FUN has a great way of drawing the crowd in even if you don't know the music. It was a great experience and I have to say I'm glad I got tickets last minute via my amazing sister.
Soon I'll be graduating and have the income to be able to spend money seeing any band I want not worrying about money problems. Yay for not being a college student anymore!! Next time FUN comes to Rochester I will be there, hopefully knowing all the words to all the songs!
What a prefect ending to my birthday weekend.
