November 7 2012: Last SCE FOREVER!!

Today is the last day I will have to be on campus for anything till December 6th! Heck yes!!

After spending all day in the lab doing 3 SCE (Simulation Clinical Experiences for those non-nursing students), all I want to do is be lazy and not get ready for finals. So I have decided to spend a little time doing just that before I go out for wine Wednesday with my bestie Colleen!!

This is how I feel most days

SCEs have been torture the last two years, always full of anxiety and stress for days before but then you walk into the lab and realize, "I got this bitches". We had mock code, blood transfusion and patient care SCEs today. Mock code, as it sounds like is a code, full on CPR and arrhythmias! It was so exciting to be put in a simulation like this. Come on, who would know what to do if this happened in real life? Blood transfusion was simple. Patient needs blood due to low lab results and blood loss, so you hang some blood! Oh no! Now they are having a reaction! Okay so something I will need for the future as well. As far as patient care goes, that was a bit of a mess. When you don't know what you are walking into you don't know how to prepare. But I made it through and I am done! Thank God!

So now for relaxing and doing a bit of catching up on my reading. Now I just need to select a new book! Any good suggestions?

Along with reading, I was thinking about my hair, it needs to be cut so bad! Why not do a home made mask!! Well after looking though PINTREST for a while, I found a few ideas to try. Considering I don't have the energy to go to the store to buy anything I'm settling for one with just honey and olive oil!! Just mix it up, warm it up and leave it on for a half hour sounds great to me!

So now time to relax!! Wish me luck!

Happy Wednesday!

November 5 2012: FUN

Usually seeing bands live gives me this great joy. There's something about the crowd, the noise and the lights that just gets my blood pumping.

Seeing FUN at RIT last night was different. Most of the time you go see a band because you know you love them! A few months ago on Pandora I heard "We are Young" and knew I heard this amazing voice before. Its way too unique to not be The Format!! I asked a friend and sure enough it was Nate Ruess! I never ventured into listening more to the band, I was too into listening to Florence and the Machine, Matchbox Twenty and Mumford and Sons.

So when I found out I had tickets to see FUN last night I had mixed feelings. I only knew the two songs that were played on the radio. This made me a little worried. Here I am going to see this up and coming band with hundreds of other "young adults", who were mostly college students like myself.

The line was long and cold to even get in, being that it was sold out and the largest show they have played so far. The opening band Miniature Tigers, was... lets say different, and had me even more worried about seeing FUN. But as soon as FUN got on and I saw Nate Ruess in his suspenders I knew it was going to be a good show.

I haven't been to a show since I saw Mumford and Sons at CMAC (don't let me get started on how amazing that was). FUN has a great way of drawing the crowd in even if you don't know the music. It was a great experience and I have to say I'm glad I got tickets last minute via my amazing sister.

Soon I'll be graduating and have the income to be able to spend money seeing any band I want not worrying about money problems. Yay for not being a college student anymore!! Next time FUN comes to Rochester I will be there, hopefully knowing all the words to all the songs!

What a prefect ending to my birthday weekend.
